    Commitment Details:
    A Gallery Host is asked to take at least a three-hour shift during our monthly open house. The Open House is the second Sunday from 1-4pm. Set up starts at 12:00. The first shift is 12-3 and the second shift is 2-5pm

    About Us:

    The Kouba Gallery, located at the Minnesota Valley Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, is dedicated to showcasing new and emerging artists exploring the human relationship with nature. We feature monthly thematic shows spanning various mediums, including painting, photography, ceramics, and mixed media. Our mission is to inspire, educate, and engage the community through art that celebrates the beauty and complexity of the natural world.

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Gallery Hosts. As a Gallery Host, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our monthly Open House events, welcoming guests, assisting with setup and cleanup, and providing a warm and inviting atmosphere for all attendees.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Help set up the Gallery Open House, including arranging artwork, preparing refreshments, and ensuring the space is welcoming and inviting.
    • Assist guests in entering the gallery and provide guidance as needed.
    • Greet guests upon arrival and ensure they sign in to our guest book.
    • Facilitate introductions between guests and exhibiting artists, fostering connections and dialogue about the artwork on display.
    • Monitor and replenish the food table and ensure the bathroom remains stocked with supplies throughout the event.
    • Encourage guests to participate in voting for the "Best of Show" award, promoting engagement and interaction with the artwork.
    • Ensure all guests feel welcome and appreciated for attending the event, answering any questions they may have and providing assistance as needed.
    • Assist with cleaning up after the event, including returning artwork to its designated location and tidying up the gallery space.

    Qualifications

    • No experience required; we welcome individuals who are passionate about the environment, arts, and community involvement.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, welcoming demeanor.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned responsibilities during scheduled Open House events.

    Time Commitment:

    • Gallery Hosts are expected to volunteer during our monthly Open House events, which take place on the second Sunday of each month from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
    • Volunteers should arrive at the gallery by 12:30 PM to assist with setup and remain until approximately 4:30 PM to help with cleanup. There are no responsibilities outside of the scheduled Open House events.
