    Description

    Volunteer ESL Instructor for Immigrant Empowerment in Greater Boston

    Action for Haitian Community Development, Inc. (AHCD) is seeking passionate volunteer ESL instructors to help immigrant adults build confidence and fluency in English. Based in Everett, Massachusetts, AHCD serves families across Greater Boston with culturally responsive programs that empower newcomers to thrive.

    As a volunteer ESL teacher, you’ll play a vital role in helping adult learners improve their language skills for everyday life, work, and civic engagement. Whether you're an experienced educator or simply eager to give back, your time and talent will directly support AHCD’s mission of immigrant empowerment.

    Responsibilities:

      • Lead engaging ESL sessions for adult learners (beginner to intermediate levels)
      • Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment
      • Support learners with pronunciation, vocabulary, and conversation practice
      • Collaborate with AHCD staff to align lessons with learners’ goals

    Qualifications:

      • Strong English communication skills
      • Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity
      • Teaching experience or multilingual skills (especially Haitian Creole) are a plus—but not required

    Time Commitment:

      • Flexible scheduling available (Mornings, evenings, nights and weekends)
      • Minimum 2 hours/week for at least 3 months

      • In-person at AHCD’s Newcomer Welcoming Center (30 Eastern Ave, Unit B 11. Malden, MA 02148)
