What does a Board Member do?

The Board supports the work of GirlVentures and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by GirlVentures’s Executive Director (ED) and the staff team, Board members play an active role in partnering with the ED during key moments of strategic and organizational decision making, determine high level policy, engage as trusted thought partners, and serve as allies to the staff team as all we work towards inspiring girls and gender expansive youth to lead through outdoor adventure, inner discovery, and collective action.

A diverse array of personal and professional life experiences is welcomed on our board and regarded as an asset in the leadership of our organization. All board members are expected to make a personally meaningful financial contribution to GirlVentures and to support securing and stewarding resources for the organization as advocates, ambassadors, and askers. All board members are expected to commit to a two-year term, but can serve up to 6 years.

Not sure if this is for you right now?

Board recruitment occurs annually in late spring-summer. GirlVentures also welcomes individual volunteers to serve on our Finance and Development committees and to serve as skilled volunteers and mentors. Please be sure you are on our email list and following us on socials to stay in the know.

In the meantime, please share this post with your professional and social networks to help us spread the word!

You can also get involved with GirlVentures in other ways. Please reach out to our Outreach and Community Engagement Director, Xiomara Batin.

Thank you for your support of the GirlVentures community!
