    Description

    YWCA Board Member (Volunteer)

The YWCA of Contra Costa/Sacramento is actively seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as volunteer board members, contributing to the enrichment of Contra Costa and Sacramento counties. Our programs encompass state-funded childcare and preschool initiatives, mental health services for children with behavioral challenges, and the adults who participate in the SAM/CalWorks Program. Additionally, in Sacramento, we manage low-income residential housing units tailored for single women with preferences given to women over 55 years old.

The board meets four times a year and is a policy board reviewing and approving YWCA goals and monitoring finances.

As influential leaders guiding the YWCA, board members are entrusted with the following responsibilities in alignment with our constitution and by-laws:

    • Embracing the YWCA Mission by championing hallmark programs and advocating for our cause
    • Ensuring that organizational policies and practices consistently reflect the highest ethical standards, promoting racial, ethnic, cultural, and age diversity
    • Exercising oversight over operating funds and capital assets, exclusively for the benefit of the YWCA

    Requirements:

    • Residency or work within the County of Contra Costa or Sacramento County.
    • Passion for the YWCA mission and commitment to empowering women and families.
    • Availability for (4) board meetings a year; meetings are currently remote but may transition to in-person in the future
    • While experience in management, finance, or education is beneficial, it is not a mandatory requirement.

If you are ready to make a meaningful impact and contribute to the advancement of our mission, we invite you to submit your cover letter and resume to ddailey@ywcaccc.org to be considered for a rewarding role as a YWCA Board Member.
