    Description

Be a Mentor with the San Francisco Education Fund!

Do you want to make a lasting difference in a young person’s life?

Students in San Francisco public schools need mentors just as much as they need academic support. Many teachers are specifically requesting mentors-someone who will consistently show up, ask how their student is doing, and remind them: "You matter."

Through the San Francisco Education Fund’s Mentoring Program, you can become that someone.

    Why Mentor?

Students thrive when they know an adult genuinely cares about them. Mentors help students build confidence, improve self-esteem, and stay connected during a critical time in their development.

Whether it's chatting during lunch, checking in before school, or connecting after class, your one-hour weekly meeting can be a powerful anchor in a student’s week.

    Who We’re Looking For:

    • We welcome mentors of all ages (18+) and backgroundsno experience necessary! The most important qualities are consistency, empathy, and a sincere desire to support a student.

Bilingual mentors, especially those who speak Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese, or Arabic, are in high demand.

    Time Commitment:

    ✔️ 1 hour per week

✔️ For one school year (or more!)

✔️ Meetings typically happen during lunch, before school, or after school

    Training Required:

    • 3 hours of mentor training and completion of an online Mandated Reporter Training is required

Upcoming Mentor Trainings: September 18th, October 8th, November 6th, and Janaury 13th

Be the reason a student feels supported, encouraged, and hopeful. One hour a week. One powerful connection.
