We are looking for friendly, outgoing, and engaging volunteers to expand our Docent program at the Chihuly Collection presented by the Morean Arts Center.
--An integral part of the Morean’s visitor experience, docents must be welcoming, inclusive, and professional representative of the Morean, and must be interested and willing to facilitate tours for students and adults.
Must agree to participate in online and in-person training sessions. Training includes interactive sessions with Morean staff, reading and studying online resources. Learn information about permanent collection as well as changing exhibitions. Attend all sessions about changing exhibitions provided by the curator to learn more about the new exhibitions.
Once trained and qualified, be able to facilitate interactive tours or other gallery-based experiences for visitors of diverse ages, cultures, abilities, and interests each year. Practice and implement varied inquiry methods and teaching strategies that support visitor engagement and understanding.
Arrive at least 20 minutes before scheduled tour time.
Be welcoming, inclusive, and professional representative of the Morean.
Experience in education, studio art, and art is appreciated but not required. Docents undergo a background check.
Docent benefits: Contributing to the Morean’s mission of connecting people with art. Providing memorable experiences for visitors. After completing 20 docent hours, docents are eligible for free Morean memberships. Unlimited visits to the Chihuly Collection and daily glass demonstrations, discounts on art classes and retail.
