    Description

    About Us

The Luena Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable solutions that improve the lives of vulnerable children and communities worldwide. Our mission is to empower children and families in vulnerable communities by expanding access to education, health, and opportunity, ensuring they can thrive today and build brighter futures tomorrow.

“We hold the simple belief that all children should have the basic human right to a happy, healthy, secure childhood and a future full of promise.”

Role Summary: Build Luena Foundation’s first comprehensive fundraising program: strategy, systems, and partnerships, for a global, 100%-to-field nonprofit. This is a leadership role for an experienced fundraiser eager to create lasting impact.

    Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional to work closely with the Founder to design, launch, and guide the Luena Foundation’s fundraising efforts. This role focuses on developing fundraising strategies, building processes, and laying the foundation for sustainable growth. In the future, this position may also involve recruiting, mentoring, and leading additional volunteer fundraisers as the team expands.

This is a volunteer leadership role for someone who is passionate about using their expertise to create long-term impact for a growing nonprofit organization. It is a chance to build a fundraising program from the ground up for a nimble, 100%-to-field nonprofit with global reach.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategy & Process Development

    • Collaborate with the Founder to design a clear fundraising strategy aligned with the Foundation’s mission and goals.
    • Establish processes, tools, and systems for donor engagement and fundraising campaigns.
    • Identify priority areas (major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, events, digital fundraising) and set measurable goals.

    Partnership & Donor Development

    • Support outreach and drive engagement to potential donors, partners, and sponsors.
    • Develop donor cultivation and stewardship practices that foster long-term relationships.
    • Provide guidance on messaging and campaigns that highlight the Foundation’s mission and impact.

    Leadership & Guidance

    • Serve as a strategic advisor on fundraising best practices.
    • When needed, help initiate and guide the recruitment of volunteer fundraisers to support campaigns.
    • Mentor and lead volunteers, ensuring alignment with strategy and consistency in donor engagement.

    Innovation & Growth

    • Explore creative fundraising approaches, such as peer-to-peer giving, online challenges, corporate matching, and cause marketing.
    • Partner with the marketing team to amplify campaigns across digital platforms.
    • Monitor outcomes and recommend improvements based on data and feedback.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or philanthropy leadership.
    • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing fundraising strategies.
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of donor cultivation, stewardship, and nonprofit fundraising tools.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership and adapt to a growing organization.
    • Passion for the Luena Foundation’s mission and willingness to donate time and expertise.

    What We Offer

    • An opportunity to lay the foundation for Luena Foundation’s fundraising success and directly shape its future.
    • Recognition for your leadership and impact in Foundation communications.
    • A collaborative partnership with the Founder and board leadership.
    • Flexible, remote engagement that respects your schedule.

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role, approx. 5 per week (flexible schedule) with monthly or bi-monthly check-ins with the Founder.
