    Description

    Job Overview:

    The Volunteer Recruitment Manager leads and coordinates VPMMA’s volunteer recruitment operations by overseeing a team of Digital Recruiters across various platforms. This role is responsible for developing recruitment strategies, supporting recruiter performance, and ensuring that volunteer pipeline needs are met efficiently. The Recruitment Manager ensures alignment between platform-specific outreach efforts and the organization’s broader volunteer needs and brand identity.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and support the Recruiters responsible for LinkedIn/Handshake, VolunteerMatch/Idealist, and Indeed/general job boards.
    • Collaborate with the Deputy Director of Volunteer Operations to assess ongoing and upcoming recruitment needs across VPMMA teams.
    • Develop and implement recruitment strategies tailored to different platforms.
    • Set clear goals and expectations for platform-specific outreach and monitor recruiter progress.
    • Host regular check-ins with the Digital Recruiters to align efforts, troubleshoot challenges, and encourage innovation.
    • Ensure consistency in brand messaging, tone, and volunteer opportunity listings across platform.
    • Track performance metrics (e.g., lead volume, conversion rates) and provide insights to leadership
    • Serve as the central point of contact between the Recruitment Team and the Pre-Onboarding Pipeline Coordinator.
    • Maintain up-to-date recruitment processes and documentation in the VPMMA knowledge base.
    • Provide regular updates to leadership about recruitment outcomes, challenges, and future planning.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Organized and able to manage applicant pipelines.
    • Basic experience with recruiting, outreach, or human resources preferred.
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Job Boards, or volunteer platforms a plus.
    • Passion for supporting the military and veteran community.

    Position Details:

    Type: Volunteer

    Location: Remote

    Directorate: Volunteer Operations (Volunteer Committee)

    Term: Six months to one year commitment to maintain consistency and effectiveness in our programs.

    Time Commitment: Volunteers should aim for 5 to 8 hours per week, with a minimum of 15 hours per month. We understand that some weeks may be less active due to holidays or vacations. Effective communication about your availability helps us remain flexible and ensures smooth operations.

    Reporting Structure:

    • Direct Report: Deputy Director of Volunteer Operations
    • Alternate: Director of Volunteer Operations (Volunteer Committee)
    • Team: Digital Recruiters, Pre-Onboarding Coordinator, Deputy Director of Volunteer Operations

    The Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the careers of service members, veterans, and military spouses in project management. We aim to build a strong, supportive community through mentorship, networking, and professional development, believing strongly in the transformative power of project management skills for veterans.

    Training and Support:

    Volunteers will receive training on VPMMA's mission, programs, and communication strategies. The Volunteer Coordinator and the Human Resources team will provide ongoing support to ensure you have the resources and guidance needed to excel in this role.
