    Content & Editorial Manager (Volunteer)

    About A&N Career Services Project

A&N Career Services Project is a career services and workforce readiness initiative supporting individuals as they navigate career transitions, build readiness, and connect with opportunity. Our work centers on practical guidance, employer engagement, and community-informed programming that strengthens career pathways.

The Project is currently in its launch and growth phase. Volunteers joining at this stage will help shape foundational systems, messaging, and materials as programs and partnerships expand.

    Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Volunteer Content & Editorial Manager to support the development, refinement, and quality of written materials across A&N Career Services Project during a defined 12-week engagement beginning February 2026.

This role focuses on message clarity, consistency, and credibility. The Content & Editorial Manager serves as a near-final reviewer for written content before it is shared externally, with final review and approval retained by project leadership or a designated reviewer.

This role is well-suited for someone with strong writing and editorial judgment who can work independently with minimal oversight.

    Volunteer Engagement Format

This role is open to volunteers participating virtually, and all core responsibilities can be completed remotely. Collaboration will take place primarily through shared tools, documentation, and virtual meetings throughout the cohort.

An orientation will be held at the start of the cohort to welcome volunteers, provide context on the Project, and support early connection. For volunteers who are not able to attend in person in Atlanta, GA, the orientation experience will be fully adapted for virtual participation, ensuring all volunteers receive the same foundational information and onboarding support.

Some roles may include optional or role-specific in-person activities when aligned with the nature of the work. When applicable, these details will be clearly outlined in the individual position description. Location is not a factor in the contribution or the professional value of the volunteer experience.

All volunteers, regardless of location, will have access to the same onboarding materials, role expectations, mentorship opportunities, and cohort touchpoints aligned with their role.

    What You Will Do

    • Develop and refine written content aligned with the mission, programs, and priorities of A&N Career Services Project
    • Draft and edit longer-form materials such as program descriptions, announcements, partner-facing narratives, and website copy as needed
    • Review and edit content created by others to ensure clarity, tone, and consistency
    • Serve as a near-final editorial reviewer for written materials prior to external use, with final approval by project leadership or a designated reviewer
    • Translate program activity and updates into clear, accessible language for external audiences
    • Help establish and maintain consistent messaging standards across communications
    • Collaborate with the Social Media & Communications Manager and project leadership to align written content with overall communications goals
    • Participate virtually. Optional in-person meetings or events in the Atlanta area, as available

More than one volunteer may be selected for this role based on project needs.

You Will Be a Strong Fit If You

    • Have prior experience writing, editing, or managing content for organizations, initiatives, or professional projects
    • Demonstrate strong writing and editorial judgment, with close attention to clarity, structure, and tone
    • Are self-directed, organized, and comfortable managing work independently
    • Can balance multiple content needs while meeting deadlines
    • Enjoy refining ideas and helping messages land clearly with diverse audiences
    • Are a student with advanced experience, a professional in transition, a retiree, or someone seeking to apply established writing skills in a mission-driven setting
    • Are motivated to contribute to a growing career services initiative at a foundational stage

    What You Will Gain

    • Leadership-level volunteer experience with defined scope and ownership
    • Portfolio-ready writing and editorial work connected to active programs and partnerships
    • Professional references available upon successful completion of the engagement
    • Mentorship opportunities with experienced leaders in career services and workforce development
    • Inclusion in a growing professional network connected to A&N Career Services Project
    • This role may be suitable for individuals seeking to fulfill academic or professional community service requirements
