    Description

    VOLUNTEER ROLE SUMMARY

    The Community Liaison (Volunteer) supports the coordination and delivery of Ember Rising’s community-based programs by assisting with communication, logistics, and participant engagement. This role serves as a connective presence between program facilitators, participants, families, and Ember Rising leadership, helping ensure programs operate smoothly and remain responsive to community needs.

    Working in collaboration with the Vice President of Mission & Impact and the Community Services Committee Chair, the Community Liaison assists with approved program activities and supports the ongoing success of Ember Rising’s core programs: NOVA, Ursa’s Echo, and Twila.

    VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program Coordination Support

    • Assist with scheduling, calendars, and reminders related to program sessions and events.
    • Help coordinate program logistics such as space readiness, materials preparation, and attendance tracking.
    • Support communication between facilitators, participants, and staff as directed.

    Program Delivery Assistance

    • Provide on-site or virtual support during program sessions, workshops, or events as needed.
    • Assist facilitators with setup, participant check-in, and general session flow.
    • Help ensure a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive program environment.

    Participant & Family Engagement

    • Support communication with participants and families, including reminders, follow-ups, and resource sharing.
    • Help gather informal feedback from participants to support program improvement.
    • Serve as a friendly point of contact for general program-related questions, referring concerns to staff when appropriate.

    Documentation & Reporting Support

    • Assist with maintaining basic participation records, sign-in sheets, and session summaries.
    • Help compile program notes or updates for staff or committee review.
    • Support grant-related documentation by helping collect program data as requested.

    Community & Committee Support

    • Assist the Community Services Committee Chair with preparation for program-related meetings or updates.
    • Support community outreach activities connected to NOVA, Ursa’s Echo, and Twila as approved.
    • Represent Ember Rising positively in community and program settings.

    Other Volunteer Support

    • Perform additional program-related support tasks as assigned, consistent with the volunteer scope of the role.

    SUPERVISION & AUTHORITY

    • This role does not include supervisory, disciplinary, or decision-making authority.
    • Volunteers act under the guidance of Ember Rising staff and committee leadership.
    • All program decisions, evaluations, and policy determinations remain the responsibility of staff and governing bodies.

    TIME COMMITMENT

    • Flexible, based on program schedules and volunteer availability.
    • Some evening or weekend participation may be requested depending on program needs.
    • Time commitments will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.

    VOLUNTEER QUALIFICATIONS

    • Interest in community-based, arts, youth, or healing-centered programming.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Dependability and willingness to collaborate with staff, facilitators, and community members.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with participants.
    • Alignment with Ember Rising’s mission and values.
