Help Build a Platform That Helps People Help Each Other

Organization: I Want To Mow Your Lawn®

    Location: Remote

Commitment: Flexible | Short-term or ongoing

Focus Areas: Technology, UX, product design, system building

    About Us

I Want To Mow Your Lawn® is a volunteer-powered nonprofit connecting people who want to help with neighbors who need support — often older adults, veterans, or individuals facing temporary hardship.

What started as a simple act of kindness has grown into a nationwide effort powered by volunteers, technology, and community trust.

Now we’re ready for the next phase.

    What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a hands-on volunteer who enjoys building things — especially digital tools that make life easier for others.

You don’t need to be a senior engineer or a startup veteran. What matters most is:

    • You enjoy solving problems
    • You like building and improving systems
    • You can contribute a few hours consistently
    • You care about impact over polish

    How You’d Help

    You may help with:

    • Designing or refining user flows
    • Improving volunteer or homeowner experiences
    • Thinking through how group service events should work
    • Creating simple wireframes or logic flows
    • Helping connect systems like forms, CRM, or automation tools

This is a collaborative role — your ideas will shape how the platform grows.

    Why This Matters

    Every improvement helps:

    • Volunteers find opportunities faster
    • Communities get help sooner
    • Nonprofits operate more efficiently
    • Good intentions turn into real-world action

We believe technology should make kindness easier — not harder.

    Important Notes

    • This is a volunteer / pro bono role
    • No rigid schedule or heavy meetings
    • Great for someone between roles, exploring purpose-driven work, or looking to contribute skills meaningfully
    • Long-term opportunities may grow from this as the platform evolves

    Interested?

    Send a short message with:

    • Your background or interests
    • Any relevant experience
    • What excites you about this opportunity

We’d love to hear from you.

    How to Apply

Please include a short note telling us:

    • Your background or experience with mobile app development (iOS, Android, or cross-platform)
    • What excites you about this project
    • Your general availability (even a few hours per week helps!)

    Optional (But Helpful)

If you have any of the following, feel free to share:

    • A LinkedIn or GitHub profile
    • Examples of past work (apps, prototypes, GitHub repos, or UI samples)
    • Experience with React Native, Flutter, Firebase, or similar tools

No formal resume is required — we’re more interested in your mindset, curiosity, and willingness to contribute.

    What to Expect

    • This is a volunteer / pro bono opportunity
    • Work is flexible and remote
    • You’ll collaborate directly with our founder and product lead
    • Your input will help shape the direction of a real, live product
    • Contributions will be recognized, and long-term opportunities may grow from this role

    Who This Is Best For

    • Developers in transition or between roles
    • Builders who enjoy early-stage product work

    • Anyone excited by mission-driven, human-centered design

We value curiosity, communication, and care just as much as technical skill.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you.
