    Android HR Manager

    Role Overview:

    Greenstand is seeking an HR Manager to support the people side of our growing, distributed team. This role focuses on building smooth processes for recruitment, onboarding, retention, volunteer engagement, and team wellbeing. You will help maintain a strong pipeline of skilled volunteers to support ongoing work across mobile app development, UX improvements, documentation, roadmap execution, and testing cycles.

    VP of Engineering

    Android Tree Tracker App team and other Engineering Teams

    AREAS of RESPONSIBILITY

    • Develop and maintain recruitment pipelines for volunteers and staff across engineering, UX, testing, documentation, operations, and other areas tied to Greenstand’s current roadmap.
    • Manage onboarding processes including welcome communication on slack, role clarification, access to documentation, introductions to team leads, and early support to help new contributors settle into the workflow.
    • Support day to day HR needs such as conflict resolution, communications support, contribution tracking on #buildingtime channel, and maintaining a positive team environment
    • Coordinate with Project Manager, Team Wrangler and Team Coordinator to understand role gaps, upcoming workload, and resource needs related to roadmap priorities like app improvements, UI updates, testing rounds, or documentation cleanup.
    • Maintain and update HR documentation including role descriptions, onboarding guides, volunteer agreements, process documents, and internal policies.
    • Create engagement activities that help build community within a globally distributed team, such as regular check ins with contributors on slack, contributor shout outs, and team bonding moments.
    • Track participation levels, volunteer retention, skill matching and overall team wellbeing to help leadership make informed decisions.

    SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience in HR management, volunteer coordination, people operations or team oriented leadership.
    • Ability to identify organizational needs and match them with people skills and strengths.
    • Experience creating documentation, improving processes and maintaining clear internal records.
    • Comfortable working in distributed, asynchronous environments.
    • Familiarity with HR tools, applicant tracking methods, or simple productivity platforms is beneficial.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience in HR, people operations, team coordination, or a related field.
    • Understanding of nonprofit or volunteer focused organizational dynamics is helpful but not essential
    • Ability to work independently
