    Description

    Internal Communications Manager

    What You’ll Do

We are seeking a highly responsive and community-focused individual to join our team as the Internal Communications Manager. Reporting to the Director of PR & Communications, this role is vital for maintaining a clear, consistent, and supportive flow of information to our two most important internal audiences: our general members and our Chapter Public Relations Officers (PROs). This role owns the primary internal communication channels (WhatsApp) and ensures our community is informed, engaged, and supported.

As an integral member of the UIU National Marketing Team, you will take on the following essential roles and responsibilities:

    Chapter PRO Communications & Engagement

    • Manage the primary PRO WhatsApp group chat, serving as the main point of contact for timely and accurate information from the National team.
    • Distribute official announcements, best practices, event logistics (e.g. PRO Town Hall Meeting, or upcoming National Marketing campaigns), and key deadlines to Chapter Marketing Teams.
    • Monitor the PRO chat for queries and feedback, ensuring questions are answered promptly or escalated to the correct National Director.

    UIU Member Communications (WhatsApp)

    • Own official communications in the UIU Member WhatsApp group chat, responsible for posting all official announcements and acting as the primary, helpful point of contact for member queries and community engagement.
    • Actively cross-promote exciting content and key stories from our external social channels (e.g. Instagram, LinkedIn) to the member audience.
    • Ensure alignment with the wider national marketing content calendar, closing the loop on all major campaigns by sharing content effectively across our internal platforms.

    Internal Messaging Alignment

    • Collaborate with the Director of PR & Communications and the wider National Marketing team to ensure all internal messages are accurate, timely, and aligned with the main content calendar.
    • Develop and maintain a clear schedule for internal announcements to avoid information overload.
    • Gather insights and common themes from internal chats to provide feedback to the ELT on member/PRO sentiment and concerns.

    Who You Are

    • Passionate about community building and fostering a positive, informed, and engaged internal culture.
    • An outstanding communicator with high emotional intelligence and the ability to be clear, concise, and professional.
    • Highly responsive, reliable, and organized, with the ability to manage real-time conversations and a content distribution schedule.
    • A natural collaborator who can work effectively with various leaders to ensure messaging is accurate.
    • Experience in community management, internal communications, or managing large online groups (like WhatsApp, Slack, or Discord) is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrates good judgment and discretion in handling sensitive internal information.
    • Igbo speaker preferred, but not essential.
