    Description

    Loyal Friends: Pet Visitation Volunteers

At AccentCare, our Loyal Friends Pet Team brings big smiles to our patients and families through Animal Assisted Visitation and Companionship. The minute a dog enters into a care facility; smiles can be seen from staff and residents alike! Regardless of how patients are feeling on any given day, our dogs are happy to see them. There are so many benefits to pet visitation in hospice care. The simple presence of a dog or therapy animal can add to the physical, social, and emotional well-being of patients and families facing terminal illness.

To join our Loyal Friends Pet Team, volunteers need to attend a free, comprehensive orientation and training program. Furry friends must be up to date on all their vaccines, meet our Loyal friends Pet Team guidelines and must be accredited as a pet therapy animal through the Delta Society (now Loyal Partners), TDI, or other accredited therapy dog association.

Should you or someone you know be interested in our Loyal Friends Pet Volunteer Program with AccentCare, please visit https://accentcare.com/volunteer/ or contact our Manager of Volunteer Services & Community Outreach, Shelby Steinmetz at ShelbySteinmetz@AccentCare.com. We would be honored to speak with you about the many opportunities we have available and how you can make difference within your community.
