    Description

SIPRA is seeking a volunteer whom is strategic, highly organized, and mission-driven leader to serve as our Volunteer Director of Operations. As we grow in 2026, we need a "Chief of Staff" style volunteer who can manage the logistics, ensure our policies are upheld, and keep our various community initiatives moving forward. This is a high-level volunteer role that puts you at the center of the Alliance’s leadership.

Key Responsibilities * Operational Systems: Build and maintain the internal systems that keep SIPRA running, including digital file management and project tracking.

    • Policy Enforcement: Manage the Volunteer Attendance Tracker. You will be responsible for identifying when a volunteer hits their 3rd absence and coordinating with Joe, Danny, Ivy, Marcie, or Patsy to issue warnings.
    • Leadership Liaison: Act as the primary bridge between the general volunteer body and the Executive Leadership team.
    • Meeting Management: Oversee the scheduling of meetings, ensuring agendas are set in advance and that the 1-hour notification protocol is being monitored in the WhatsApp group.
    • Event Logistics: Work with committee chairs to ensure SIPRA events (parades, festivals, advocacy days) have the necessary permits, supplies, and volunteer man-power.

Qualifications * Management Experience: Previous experience in operations, project management, or non-profit administration.

    • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using WhatsApp, Google Workspace (Docs/Sheets), and basic website updates for www.sipra25.org.
    • Cultural Competency: A deep understanding of the Staten Island Puerto Rican community and a commitment to its advancement.
    • Bilingual Strongly Preferred: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is an asset.
    • Firmness & Fairness: Ability to hold volunteers accountable to their signed Commitment Contracts with professionalism and respect.

Benefits of the Role * Leadership Development: Direct experience managing a growing non-profit organization.

    • Networking: Build connections with Staten Island’s civic leaders and the five-member SIPRA executive team.

Community Impact: Be the engine behind the programs that celebrate Puerto Rican culture and support local families.
