    Tech Center Volunteer - Manchester CT - UR Community Cares

    Qualifications: Passion for technology and a desire to share knowledge with others. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in basic computer skills and commonly used software applications. Patience and empathy, especially when working with individuals who may be new to technology.

    Position Overview: UR Community Cares is seeking enthusiastic and experienced people of all ages to join our new "UR Community Tech Center" as volunteers in person in the center. As a Tech Center Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and supportive environment for individuals of all ages seeking to enhance their tech skills and have socialization. Your wealth of life experiences and passion for technology will contribute significantly to our mission of bridging the digital divide and empowering our community through technology.

    Key Responsibilities, you choose based on your interests:

    1) Center Leader: Provide assistance to individuals seeking help with basic computer skills, internet navigation, the use of various devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, laptops) and provide socialization and resources. Device Troubleshooting: Help troubleshoot common issues with phones, tablets, laptops, offering guidance on problem-solving. Guide individuals in developing improved email communication, online research, and the use of apps.

    2) Trainer: Monthly commitment 5 hours, with Workshop, Course or Lecture facilitation. Lead or assist the Executive Director in conducting tech workshops for seniors (age 50+) on topics such as online safety, social media, basic software applications, and more. Take training classes with Senior Planet to become an official trainer.

    3) Ambassador: Administrative support to check people in/out, set up games online or board games, offer people your time to discuss their life stories and offer town/state resources for those in need.

    • 09:30 to 11:45 EST
    • 12:00 to 15:00 EST
