Volunteer on an 8 day service trip with an experienced volunteer-service program on their way to building 1000 Schools across Honduras. Founded by Shin Fujiyama, One Thousand Schools welcomes you to choose from a variety of trip options for Summer 2026. Choose between a construction service trip, Week of celebration with 26' graduates, chapter leadership training week or teach at our bilingual summer school.

Construction week Jun 28 – Jul 5, 2026 is focused on working on an education-centered construction project in Villa Soleada. This follows the itinerary of our traditional trips offered over winter and spring with most days working on a fun, safe construction site focused on an eduction related project or school. Enjoy service-learning activities in the evening as well as soccer, time practicing Spanish with kids in the community and a trip to Tela Beach.

Graduation Week Jun 21 – 28, 2026 is a very special week focused on our 2026 Bilingual High School graduates. Spend the whole week with the most recent graduating class from Villa Soleada Bilingual School volunteering one day together on a local school project and then traveling with the students on a field trip where they are rewarded by spending time with volunteers from around the world to practice their English and explore new parts of Honduras. Last year volunteers and students went camping together, white water rafting and visited a nature preserve. The week ends by attending graduation and watching our students cross the stage into the next era of their life. This is an unforgettable week the students look forward to all year long.

Summer Camp Jul 11 – 25, 2026 is a two week long experience where volunteers work with the Villa Soleada Bilingual School staff to create an enriching camp for students to keep practicing their English and learn new skills with volunteers. This is an ideal trip to volunteer on if you might be interested in spending a whole year with us in the future teaching at VSBS. Spanish proficiency is not required.

Leadership week Jul 5 – 12, 2026 is for college leaders interested in learning how to organize a chapter of One Thousand Schools at their university. Days are spent in leadership training learning how to organize, fundraise and speak about the projects of One Thousand Schools. Evenings are spent in activities in Villa Soleada like soccer, Spanish practice with community kids, local hiking and a trip to Tela Beach.

Teacher Leadership week July 11-18 is the same as above exclusively for high school teachers or college administrators who want to start or support a chapter of One Thousand Schools at their school.

Fee: Early registration for 1 week is all inclusive with the exception of airfare. The fee is $650. You can fundraise for your trip fee after your initial registration of $150.

Stay two weeks for only $1025
