    AccentCare Hospice is seeking empathetic volunteers to support individuals and families navigating grief after the loss of a loved one. Whether through phone calls, handwritten notes, or quiet presence, your compassion can bring comfort and connection during a vulnerable time.

    🌿 Volunteer Role Includes:

      • Making supportive phone calls to bereaved family members
      • Assisting with mailings of grief resources and remembrance cards
      • Helping organize memorial events or remembrance activities
      • Providing a listening ear and gentle encouragement

    🕊️ Ideal Volunteers:

      • Are kind, patient, and emotionally grounded
      • Have a heart for helping others through loss
      • Can commit to 1–2 hours per week (or more if desired)
      • Are comfortable with training on grief sensitivity and communication

    💬 Training & Support:

    We offer flexible onboarding, grief education, and ongoing support from our Volunteer Services team. No clinical experience required—just a willingness to be present and compassionate.

    Instructions:

    To apply for this Bereavement Support Volunteer role:

    1. Submit a Volunteer Application
    2. All applicants must complete our general volunteer application for indirect service roles. This helps us understand your interests and availability.
    3. Consent to Background Screening
    4. As part of our onboarding process, we require consent for a background check to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all.
    5. Complete Bereavement Support Training
    6. Volunteers will receive specialized education on grief sensitivity, communication, and support techniques. Training is flexible and can be completed online or in person.
    7. Optional Work Sample (Preferred Format: PDF or Word)
    8. If you have prior experience in grief support, counseling, or related fields, feel free to submit a short reflection, sample outreach note, or description of relevant volunteer work.
