    Description

A Simple Phone Call Can Ease a Family’s Worry

    Tuck-In Volunteer (Hospice):

Tuck-In Volunteers play a vital role in supporting hospice patients and their families by making brief, compassionate phone calls before the weekend. These calls help ensure that patients have essential supplies, feel prepared, and know they are not alone. Volunteers offer a compassionate presence over the phone and help ensure the care team knows how best to support each patient.

This is a deeply meaningful way to serve others—perfect for someone with a warm voice, a caring heart, and a desire to bring comfort to a person in need.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Call hospice patients and/or caregivers using a provided call list and script
    • Ask specific questions to help prepare patients for upcoming weekends
    • Offer emotional support as appropriate
    • Share any concerns or important information with the Volunteer Coordinator or clinical staff
    • Maintain boundaries and confidentiality at all times
    • Document each call using the tracking log

    Training & Support:

    • Completion of Volunteer Orientation is required
    • Additional Tuck-In training will be provided
    • Ongoing support from the Volunteer Coordinator and clinical team

    Ideal Qualities:

    • Warm, compassionate communication style
    • Comfortable speaking on the phone
    • Reliable and detail-oriented
    • Able to maintain confidentiality and follow protocols
    • Desire to support individuals and families during a vulnerable time

    Time Commitment:

Weekly - Thursdays between the hours of 10am-4pm

    Impact:

Your voice can bring reassurance to someone facing uncertainty, comfort to a weary caregiver, and peace to a family navigating the challenges of end-of-life care.
