    About Us

    Manistique Community Treehouse Center is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering youth, families, and residents through education, wellness, creativity, sustainability, and community connection.

    We publish 📰 The Community Canopy

    “Stories That Hold Us Together.”

    Our community newspaper uplifts local voices, shares resources, and highlights the people, programs, and stories that strengthen our neighborhoods.

    We are currently seeking committed and community-minded volunteers to support:

    1. The Community Canopy Newspaper -We are seeking 3 volunteers to support our community newspaper.
    2. Our Community Gardens -We are seeking 5+ volunteers to support our community gardens throughout the season.

    Volunteer Opportunities Available

    📰 The Community Canopy – Editing & Layout Volunteers

    Help bring community stories to life.

    Volunteer responsibilities may include:

    • Editing articles for clarity, grammar, and readability
    • Assisting with newspaper layout and page setup
    • Organizing and formatting content
    • Collaborating with staff and community contributors
    • Ongoing opportunities for each publication cycle

    Ideal for volunteers interested in:

    • Writing, editing, or journalism
    • Graphic design or layout (Canva, InDesign, or similar tools helpful but not required)
    • Community storytelling and media for good

    🌱 Community Gardens – Spring Clean-Up & Ongoing Volunteers

    Support our gardens during spring clean-up and throughout the growing season.

    Activities include:

    • Spring garden clean-up
    • Planting, weeding, and general garden maintenance
    • Harvesting produce
    • Composting and soil care
    • Seasonal planting and ongoing garden upkeep

    Great for volunteers who enjoy:

    • Working outdoors
    • Hands-on learning
    • Gardening, sustainability, and food access
    • Supporting community health and wellness

    How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

    Community Gardens Volunteers

    • Closed-toe shoes are required
