WSPEC, a global non-profit, is accelerating the realization of a space elevator through targeted STEAM competitions. We are looking for a robotics technical mentor to serve as the guiding hand for our competitors. In this role, you will first master the mechanics of space elevator climbers, becoming the resident expert. Then, provide high-level mentorship and troubleshooting support to the student teams in our global competitions.
What You'll Do:
- Deep dive into the WSPEC climber hardware and software to become the subject matter expert on our specific robotics platform.
- Act as a technical advisor for competing teams, offering guidance on mechanical design and troubleshooting.
- Host technical Q&A sessions to help teams overcome engineering hurdles.
- Serve as a technical judge or safety inspector during our competitions to ensure robots meet standards.
What We're Looking For:
- Background in robotics or electrical/mechanical engineering.
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), motors, and sensors.
- A passion for teaching and mentorship, you can explain complex engineering concepts simply.
- A genuine passion for space exploration, technology, and STEAM education.
