This volunteer role is ideal for someone with strong writing and research skills who is passionate about making a direct impact through nonprofit development.

    Our Programs:

    • Project SHIELD – Provides anti-trafficking awareness and certification training for individuals, chapters, and organizations to prevent exploitation and protect communities.
    • Roots to Wings – Equips foster youth transitioning into college with dorm kits, mentoring, and support to increase college readiness and success.
    • Journey Bag Drive – Distributes essential supplies (clothing, toiletries, life tools) to foster youth aging out of care.
    • Scholarship & Education Support – Offers scholarships, tutoring, and mentoring to help youth access and succeed in higher education.
    • Golf Fore Youth – Expands access to golf for underrepresented youth by funding equipment, tournaments, instruction, and mentorship.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Draft and edit grant proposals, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and adherence to funder guidelines.
    • Collaborate with program leads to gather budgets, impact stories, and program outcomes.
    • Track submitted applications and maintain a database of deadlines and opportunities.
    • Assist with funder follow-up and reporting requirements.

    Time Commitment:

6–10 hours per week, depending on the number of active grants.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
    • Prior grant writing experience preferred, but strong research/writing ability will be considered.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Expectations:

    • Produce clear, compelling proposals that highlight the mission and impact of HUGS’ programs.
    • Meet deadlines consistently to maximize funding opportunities.
