The Carnegie Center is recruiting volunteer tutors for the 2025-2026 school year. We have a rolling start throughout the school year, beginning in August and going through late May. Volunteers may choose to tutor in-person at the Carnegie Center, or be matched with a child for virtual instruction. In-person tutoring typically takes place Monday-Thursday 3:30-7:30pm, and virtual tutoring can be any day and time. Tutoring requires a one-hour-a-week commitment and hours are flexible. Tutors may select their preferred grade level/subject and schedule, pending student availability. We serve students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade and typically provide tutoring in reading and/or math.
Learn, play, and make a difference in a child's life! Tutor matches are more important than ever- children have fallen significantly behind as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Tutoring helps a child re-build their confidence in learning and builds social skills which are crucial for success and overall well-being.
All tutors must be 16 years of age or older, if over 18 the volunteer must pass a background check. Orientations and trainings are available, and every tutor gets to take a free class at the Carnegie Center! To sign up, please contact Tutoring Director Holly Farthing at holly@carnegiecenterlex.org
In-person tutors preferred, but we welcome virtual volunteers from across the US!
