Volunteer Reading Buddies Needed!

We are actively looking for volunteers for our reading and mentoring program at the Maryvale Community Center! This 6-week program provides an opportunity for volunteers to work directly with students ranging from 2nd-5th grade. Volunteers will be assisting the Reader(s) with comprehension, concentration, making connections as well as pronunciation and sounding out when it is the Reader's turn to read.

Volunteers will be trained on Read Better Be Better's curriculum prior to working with children in the program.

Requirements: Experience with children, comfortable reading children's books to elementary students (1-2 students at a time). Signed volunteer waiver and background check required.

We are primarily looking for volunteers who can make the commitment twice a week, but we are open to those who can attend once a week.
