    Description

2nd Saturdays - Sort & pack reading materials for 3,500+ children and families

The Magazine Literacy Bank is like a food bank for reading materials that delivers magazines to children and people in food pantries, schools, veteran support programs, foster and elder care, and more.

    Join us on 2nd Saturdays - flexible hours - 11/08, 12/13, 01/10, 02/14, 03/14, 04/11, 05/09, 06/13

Great for individuals of all ages (under 13 with a parent or guardian), school, sports team, company and community volunteering groups of any size!

    Everything begins with reading!

The Magazine Literacy Bank is the only program of its kind in the world - like a food bank that collect, sorts, and packs magazines for delivery to literacy programs around Columbus, across the USA and around the world for at-risk children and families.

Help sort boxes of reading materials needed for delivery to thousands of children and families, veterans, elderly and readers of all ages via food pantries, homeless and domestic abuse shelters, youth mentoring, and job training programs.

Magazines are special for literacy. With titles for every reading age, interest, professional aspiration, and language, magazines are the most powerful literacy engines on earth.

We receive good condition magazines recycled from consumers and publishers,, and sort and package them for delivery to new readers via literacy programs.

    Literacy ends poverty.

Think about how much you love to read and consider that most families in poverty have zero books at home. In many schools two hours in every direction from Columbus and beyond, only a third of students are reading at grade level.
