    Create and Lead Arts and Crafts Projects for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities

    Program Overview:

    Catholic Charities Adult Day Center offers older adults and adults with disabilities who require extra care as an alternative to a nursing home or attendant care facility, acting as a place where they can come during the day and enjoy fun, relaxing activities while interacting with others.

    Our Approach:

    We strive to maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each member, as well as maintain a safe, neat, and clean environment. We provide certified nursing assistants to respond to care needs and offer varied daily programming based on members’ needs and wants, activities, snacks, and lunch.

    Volunteer Role Description - Art Activities Volunteer:

    You will create and lead accessible art projects for varying abilities. Such crafts can include but are not limited to, painting birdhouses, scrapbooking, holiday-themed crafts, etc.

    Traits and Tasks:

    • Must be at least 16 years old to volunteer with signed permission from a parent or guardian or 18 or older to volunteer independently
    • Able to create and lead a variety of artistic activities tailored to different ability levels

    What We Provide You:

    • 20-minute information session to learn more about the role and program
    • Meet-and-greet the Adult Day Center Program Director, tour the center, and get introduced to our members
    • Our craft room is stocked with a wide variety of art supplies, perfect for bringing creative projects to life

    The Commitment:

    • Occurs at Catholic Charities’ Adult Day Center (1919 N 60th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53208)
    • 2-hour shifts once a week (anytime between 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
    • 6-month minimum commitment to build trust and relationship with our members
