    Description

    General Description:

    ABCD’s network of neighborhood offices are the first point of contact for many individuals and families in need of critical services. In ongoing efforts to increase accessibility for clients ABCD hosts a mobile food access center. The mobile food access center will have food “pop-ups” at two distribution sites each month. The Mobile Food Access Center Volunteer will assist staff in the operations of the pantry and ensuring distribution sites are run smoothly and effectively.

    Overarching Duties/Responsibilities:

    • each volunteer will be assigned a role for the day that may include the following
    • Organize and categorize food
    • Conduct inventory
    • Load food into ABCD van for distributions
    • Guide and facilitate clients at distributions sites on day of food pop-ups
    • Unload food from ABCD’s van at distribution sites
    • Assist in delivering food to clients during the food pop-ups

    Skills & Qualifications:

    • Able to multi-task and respond to multiple requests simultaneously.
    • Customer service skills.
    • Ability to lift bags of food and boxes (up to 20 lbs)
    • Able to travel to distribution sites (Mattapan and/or East Boston)

    Languages Needed:

    English, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Thai, Vietnamese, Haitian and Cape Verdean Creole, Russian, Portuguese, French, Swahili

    Length of Commitment:

    ongoing, starting August 2025
