    About the Role

    The Dance Program Director provides leadership to ensure that Restoring.Our.Youth.Organization Inc. is fulfilling its mission and goals. The position works closely with the entire dance program staff and leaders who are responsible for assisting in running a successful dance program operation. The Dance Program Director responsibilities will include a program instruction in the arts of dance and overall performance programming strategic plan for the program. The Dance Program Director provides direction for and management oversight of all members and leaders of the program, including budgeting, financial planning and reporting, human resources, board relations, fundraising, communications and marketing, planning and coordination of performances and events, facilities management, and volunteer management. The Dance Program Director directly supervises an administrative staff consisting of full time, part time and contracted volunteer employees.This position's description can be altered or changed anytime at the discretion of the Executive Director.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Oversee the development and implementation of volunteer programming and recognition opportunities
    • Manage and attend all R.O.Y special events, school-wide initiatives, and performances
    • Manage human resources issues and policy creation as needed, in collaboration with the Assistant Director, Board Directors, and staff
    • Oversee all agreements and negotiation on behalf of R.O.Y Organization including faculty and accompanist contracts, leases for studio space, and performance venues
    • Oversee and implement suitable resources to ensure that operations of the organization are appropriate and effective including technology to support registration, social media, and donor relations
    • Conduct and lead office staff and hiring decisions when directed by the Chief Executive Director
    • Identify and develop in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Dance and the Board, resources sufficient to ensure the financial well-being of the organization including fundraising from foundations, corporations, individuals, members
    • Management oversight of the fiscal integrity of R.O.Y Organization,, including submission to the Board of an annual budget developed in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Dance and Board finance committee, as well as reporting, analysis, and forecasts as needed
    • Oversee the design, development and production of all printed materials and partner with Marketing, Public Relations coordinator when needed.
    • Oversee all marketing activities, including creation and execution of yearly marketing plan
    • In collaboration with the Assistant Director and the Board, ensure that the mission of R.O.Y Organization is fulfilled through all programs and activities of the organization
    • Work with the Board to fulfill the organization’s mission
    • In communication with the Board Executive Committee, provide, in a timely and accurate

    What You Bring to the Role

    • Must be located in the United States of America, preferably in the Chicagoland area.
    • Must have strong, effective written and spoken communication skills along with excellent research and organizational skills.
    • Must have evidence of and a commitment to practice a high level of confidentiality
    • Must have strong experience in planning, organizing and carrying out the daily activities and administrative functions of a CED office in a sensitive, highly visible and dynamic and organizational environment, requiring management of multiple and rapidly changing priorities
    • Must have a 5 years of dancing/choreographing experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or comparable combination of education and experience
    • Three to five years of previous experience in a comparable nonprofit organization; previous arts management preferred
    • Demonstrated budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting
    • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task delegation
    • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
    • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector
    • Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Strong ability to actively listen to and interact with the diverse constituency of families, donors, and friends that make up the R.O.Y organization community
    • Engaging/responsive, and proactive communication
    • Proficient in Google Suite and open to learning new tools.
    • Adaptable, collaborative, and self-motivated
    • Establish and maintain highly professional effective working relationships with senior management, and other appointed officials, including staff, community and business leaders, donors, board members, and others encountered in the course of work
    • Use a high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned groups and/or individuals
    • Must be in agreement with and committed to upholding R.O.Y Organization’s Motto Statement, and Statement of Values, as well as its stated Mission and Vision
