    Description

Latino, Latina, Hispanic Mentors Needed for Youth in Foster Care

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you want to work with a young person who needs support, care, and a role model?

We need YOU to mentor a youth experiencing foster care.

Be A Mentor is partnering with Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) to support Alameda County youth in foster care.

This is an in-person mentoring program. You will spend most of your time in the community with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about their needs. 1 to 1 mentoring gives students more opportunities for success regardless of their background. It’s especially important for youth who may not have consistent adults in their lives to connect with.

All mentors are required to complete a background check and trainings. Our mentoring coordinator will be available for support throughout the program. We ask that you commit to at least 1 hour per week for a full calendar year. Consistency is important to build trust between you and your mentee.

Be A Mentor, Inc. has been positively interacting with youth since its founding in 1992 and continues to connect youth with dedicated volunteer adults throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide a direct mentoring service to youth (such as those in foster care; with incarcerated parents; susceptible to gang participation, drug/alcohol abuse or teen parenting; homeless/in transition or academically struggling).
