    Description

    Atlas Assistance Dogs® empowers people with disabilities to train their own service dogs - a mission that depends on trust, privacy, and strong data stewardship. We’re seeking a Technology & Data Security Director to help protect the digital backbone that makes this work possible.

    What You’ll Do

    • Oversee and advise on Atlas’s data security and technology governance policies.
    • Conduct or review the annual audit of system access and permissions.
    • Partner with the Governance Committee and Operations Technology Lead to keep all digital tools and platforms compliant and secure.
    • Recommend practical improvements that make technology safer and easier for staff and volunteers to use.
    • Provide periodic updates to the board on risk and cybersecurity awareness.
    • Work with the Operations Technology Lead as a team to research and advise on platform changes, and to ensure solutions chosen by the operations team are in compliance with our policies.
    • Participate in regular board activities, contributing your ideas, insight and passion to further Atlas’ mission.

    What You Bring

    • Experience in IT governance, cybersecurity, data privacy, or technology risk management.
    • Strategic yet pragmatic approach to security in small organizations.
    • Ability to translate technical concepts into plain language for non-technical audiences.
    • Enthusiasm for mission-driven work and collaboration with volunteers and staff.
    • You are familiar with a range of business tools such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Zoom, Office365, password managers, and comfortable with higher level technology concepts of how these systems may interact and are administered.
    • You’re comfortable using basic digital tools (like ClickUp or shared online workspaces) to stay organized, collaborate, and keep things moving between meetings.
    • US based.

    Commitment

    • ~1-5 hours per week, averaging 5
    • 15 hours per month
    • Hybrid or virtual participation.
    • Monthly virtual board meetings, quarterly deep dive meetings and annual meeting attendance.
    • 3year renewable term.
