Tanzania's education system has improved, but there are still challenges that affect the quality and access to education. Local and international volunteers can help tackle these problems. Here’s a brief look at the Tanzanian education system, its challenges, and how volunteers can make a difference.
Tanzania’s education follows a 7-4-2- model. i.e Pre-primary education (2 years) for children aged 5 and 6, Primary education (7 years) free and required for ages 7 to 13, Secondary education ( 4 years) for students aged 14 to 18 and Advanced secondary education for 18+

- Teacher Training by providing workshops on effective teaching, helping to get educational materials and set up libraries.
- Supporting Remote Schools by assisting in rural schools and raising awareness about the importance of education.
- Promoting Gender Equality by collaborating with groups to support girls’ education, teaching practical skills that match job market demands, providing lessons on hygiene and environmental issues.
