    Description

    About International Child Advancement

International Child Advancement (ICA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led entirely by volunteers. Founded in 2016, ICA empowers underserved children in Buffalo, NY, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through education, economic empowerment and mentorship.

    About the Role

ICA seeks a dedicated and visionary Board President to lead our working Board of Directors in advancing the organization’s mission and growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a purpose-driven leader who thrives in collaborative, hands-on environments and believes in the power of education and community to create long-term change.

As this is a working board within an all-volunteer organization, the President plays both a strategic and active role in guiding board engagement, supporting fundraising initiatives, and strengthening governance and community partnerships.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership to the Board of Directors in accordance with ICA’s mission and values.
    • Work closely with the Founder and Executive Director to set strategic priorities and oversee key initiatives.
    • Facilitate effective board meetings and ensure committees remain active and productive.
    • Support fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts.
    • Represent ICA publicly to build partnerships and visibility.
    • Ensure board compliance with nonprofit governance standards and accountability practices.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit governance, business, or community organizations.
    • Passion for youth empowerment, education, or international development.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and facilitation skills.
    • Ability to dedicate approximately 2-3 hours per month to board leadership duties.
    • Prior board experience preferred, but mission alignment and commitment to impact are most important.

    Commitment & Structure

    • Board Term: 3 years
    • Meetings: Monthly (virtual) with board and committee members, quarterly with executive director and board.

    What You’ll Gain

    • The opportunity to lead a passionate, international team of changemakers.
    • A meaningful leadership experience with tangible global and local impact.
    • The satisfaction of helping children and families thrive through education and economic empowerment.
