    Description

Havenwatch Foundation for Child Protection is a civilian-led child protection initiative focused on improving the lawful reporting, verification, and escalation of online child exploitation and abuse concerns. We operate independently while working to strengthen cooperation with platforms, child protection organizations, and appropriate authorities. We are currently in the process of transitioning toward formal non-governmental organization (NGO) status.

    Role Overview

We are seeking Policy Analysts and Field Legal Reviewers to support Havenwatch’s legal, policy, and compliance work. These roles are central to ensuring that our case handling, reporting, and internal programs operate within clear legal and ethical boundaries across jurisdictions.

This opportunity is open to licensed legal professionals, law students, legal researchers, and individuals with strong interest or experience in legal and policy analysis related to child protection, cyber law, and online safety.

    Responsibilities

    Policy Analysts

    • Research and analyze laws and regulations related to online child protection, cybercrime, data protection, and digital platform governance across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Support the development and review of internal policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.
    • Track legal developments that may affect Havenwatch’s operations and reporting practices.
    • Assist in drafting guidance materials for internal teams and volunteers.

    Field Legal Reviewers

    • Review case materials to assess legal sufficiency and compliance prior to escalation or reporting.
    • Advise on jurisdictional considerations, reporting thresholds, and appropriate escalation pathways.
    • Support lawful cyber-tipping and documentation practices in coordination with Operations and Intake teams.
    • Identify legal risks and recommend safeguards to protect victims, reporters, and volunteers.

    Qualifications

    • Open to licensed lawyers, legal professionals, law students, or individuals with demonstrable legal research experience.
    • Strong interest in child protection, cyber law, online safety, or digital rights.
    • Ability to interpret legal materials and communicate findings clearly to non-legal teams.
    • Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and safeguarding principles.

    What We Offer

    • The opportunity to contribute meaningfully to child protection efforts in online environments.
    • Practical experience working with international legal and policy considerations in a real-world setting.
    • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team focused on intake review, analysis, operations, and compliance.
    • Flexible, fully remote volunteer engagement designed to accommodate varying availability.

    Important Note

Havenwatch is not a law enforcement agency and does not exercise police or prosecutorial authority. All roles are volunteer-based and non-compensated. Contributions are focused on lawful reporting, policy development, and compliance support as part of our transition toward formal NGO status.
