    Description

    Operations & Transport Manager

    Organization: Good Neighbors Network

Location: Greater Boston / Remote / on-site for events as they come

Ideal Commitment: Flexible, approx. 5-10 hours per week

    About Us:

The Good Neighbors Network is a growing community of local volunteers, organizers, and neighbors working together to build a stronger, more connected, and more caring Boston. We organize small acts of service, community-building events, and collaborative projects — including food pantries and neighborhood-based mutual aid — that make a real, tangible difference where people live.

    What We're Looking For:

We’re looking for an Operations & Transport Manager to help keep our community food pantry running smoothly. This role is essential to making sure food, supplies, and materials get where they need to be — on time, safely, and efficiently. You’ll work closely with the founder and volunteer leads to coordinate logistics for pantry days, food pickups, storage, and special events.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, planning, and making systems work — and who wants to contribute in a practical, high-impact way.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate food and supply transportation for pantry days, food drives, and community events.
    • Help plan and manage logistics for storage, pickup, and delivery of food and materials (e.g., cars, volunteers, timing, load plans).
    • Maintain simple operational systems (checklists, schedules, pickup plans) to ensure smooth execution.
    • Communicate with volunteers, partners, and organizers to confirm logistics and day-of needs.
    • Identify operational gaps or risks and suggest improvements to make events more efficient and accessible.
    • Support day-of operations as needed (setup, breakdown, flow coordination).

    Qualifications:

    • Reliable, organized, and comfortable coordinating moving parts.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to follow through.
    • Comfort with basic logistics planning (transport, timing, storage).
    • Experience in operations, logistics, delivery, event setup, or volunteer coordination is a plus — but not required.
    • A genuine commitment to community service and helping neighbors.

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Hands-on experience in community operations and nonprofit logistics.
    • A meaningful leadership role in a growing grassroots network.
    • The satisfaction of knowing your work directly enables families and neighbors to receive support.
    • Flexibility and autonomy, with clear purpose and real-world impact.
