    Helpline Volunteer

    Do you have great listening skills and want to make a difference for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking? The team at My Sister's House would love to have you on board as a Helpline Volunteer!

    About Us:

    My Sister's House is a nonprofit organization committed to serving Asian and Pacific Islander and other underserved women and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by providing a culturally appropriate and responsive safe haven, job training, and community services.

    Role Overview:

    As a Helpline Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in providing assistance and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. You will be the first point of contact for individuals reaching out to our helpline, gathering essential information, and connecting callers to resources that they are seeking.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Answer incoming calls on our helpline.
    • Gather information from callers to determine their specific needs and concerns.
    • Provide basic information about My Sister's House programs and services.
    • Navigate resource list to provide callers with appropriate referrals.
    • Maintain professional demeanor when interacting with callers.
    • Collaborate with other advocates to ensure effective support.

    Requirements:

    • Completion of the 40-hour training provided by My Sister's House.
    • Completion of in-person training.
    • Ability to provide culturally-competent support for callers.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to speak on the phone and complete forms simultaneously.
    • HELPLINE VOLUNTEERS MUST BE OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE.

    Nice-to-Haves:

    • Ability to speak more than one language.
