Computer technicians are needed to help refurbish apple Apple MacBooks, and Windows laptop computers. This equipment will then be used to support our digital divide and technology access programs serving students, low-income families, non-profits and schools in the USA and Africa. A
Activities include the full range of experiences essential for a computer technician including performing an initial assessment of the laptops, adding drives and memory, loading operating systems and applications, running updates, imaging, and cleaning computers for shipment to clients.
We also recently won a US State Department grant to implement a large program in Benin, Africa, which is a French speaking country. So we have an additional need for volunteers who can speak French and configure Microsoft Windows and software applications laptops in French. Such volunteers can also participate in Zoom calls with the Ministry of Education and partners in Benin to ensure we are optimally loading and configuring software on the laptops.
Ideal for experienced technicians, Students in A+ training programs needing technology work experience, or people wanting to gain entry in the technology field through genuine work experience. Our volunteers regularly gain employment in the technology sector as a result of this work experience.
