LifeTown is a one-of-a-kind educational facility located in New Albany, Ohio, where students with disabilities from schools across the state come to learn and practice real-life skills in a hands-on environment. Designed as a simulated town, LifeTown features a variety of venues and “shops” that students visit during their experience, including a bank, salon, movie theater, pet shop, and more.
During their visit, students participate in teacher-selected lessons from our curriculum and complete accompanying worksheets. These lessons provide meaningful opportunities to build essential skills such as financial literacy, time management, self-advocacy, social interaction, and personal safety.
LifeTown is seeking volunteers from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on days we are open. We follow a typical school schedule, with student visits taking place Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Volunteer availability is managed through our VolunteerHub system, which is regularly updated so volunteers can view open dates and select days that work best for them.
We welcome both community members and corporate volunteer groups to join us in supporting our students.
