    Description

    Aquarium Husbandry Volunteer

    Behind-the-scenes husbandry volunteers assist with maintenance of six 500 to 2,500 gallon saltwater Model Ecosystems and other small aquaria. Duties include feedings, monitoring water chemistry, specimen collection using seine nets, performing routine water exchanges and monitoring aquaria systems. Aquarium husbandry volunteers must be able to stand for extended periods and climb short ladders and stairs. Husbandry volunteers may also interact with the public and answer questions regarding specimens and aquaria.

    Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old and willing to commit to a 3 hour per week commitment for 2 months.; ability to stand for extended periods; no shellfish allergy; and tolerant of saltwater.

    1 shift available:

    • additional shift available from 2pm to 5pm.: 09:00 to 12:00 EST
