    Join Empowered Futures as a Content Editor and help shape the future for emerging adults as they transition into adulthood. We are a forward-thinking nonprofit committed to building confident, emotionally intelligent, and resourceful young adults through self-empowerment, mentorship, and community support.

    About the Role

    We are looking for a talented Content Editor with a strong grasp of SEO best practices and expertise in long-form content creation. The ideal candidate will have a background in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related area, with a keen eye for storytelling, accuracy, and audience engagement. This role will focus on editing and refining in-depth articles, guides, and thought leadership pieces that both rank in search engines and provide real value to readers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Edit, proofread, and fact-check long-form articles, whitepapers, and blog posts Over website and LinkedIn for accuracy, clarity, and engagement.
    • Optimize content for SEO, ensuring the use of strategic keywords, meta descriptions, headers, and internal linking.
    • Collaborate with writers, content strategists, and SEO specialists to ensure editorial quality and search visibility.
    • Maintain and enforce brand voice, tone, and style guidelines across all long-form content.
    • Review content for journalistic integrity, ensuring accuracy, proper sourcing, and compliance with ethical standards.
    • Guide writers on improving narrative flow, structure, and overall readability.
    • Analyze content performance and make recommendations for improvement based on analytics data.
    • Stay updated on SEO trends, Google algorithm updates, and emerging content strategies.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field. Education in English Literature preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in editing or content management and working knowledge of SEO and long-form content.
    • Excellent command of the English language, grammar and Canadian style of writing
    • Strong background in journalism and editorial best practices.
    • Proven ability to edit content for both human readers and search engine optimization.
    • Familiarity with SEO tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Moz preferred.
    • Strong project management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and fact-checking skills.
    • Comfortable working collaboratively with writers, marketers, and SEO teams.
