    Description

Looking for Musicians to Volunteer at Sutter Care at Home Hospice

The benefits of music are many. Not only does it elevate mood, it reduces stress, depression and pain. It can transport one to a happier, more tranquil place. If you are a musician and have an hour or two to spare per week in service to others, playing music for Sutter Care at Home hospice patients would be a rewarding endeavor. Your visits to our patients would bring happiness and help them on their journey. Please note all volunteers must be 18 years of age to visit patients.

To become a hospice volunteer at Sutter Care at Home, the greatest gift one can offer is their time, caring nature and willingness to be present. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.

Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, listening with compassion, playing music, reading a book, helping create a scrapbook, and as needed, offering support, providing relief for the family members and caregivers. Volunteers do not provide clinical or personal care, but can provide social visits to a patient, or give the caregiver a little break, or time to rest. Volunteers can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. Volunteers can also assist with routine tasks and errands.

Our requirements: Volunteers take part in an enriching self-paced, online training program that can be done at home, plus we offer ongoing support to existing volunteers. Volunteers work with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the multi-disciplinary hospice team.
