A Community Table Initiative with Yon Jou Ak Vwazen: Soup Joumou Ingredients Giveaway

A Community Table – Yon Jou Ak Vwazen: Soup Joumou Cultural Celebration & Purpose Bag Giveaway.

This event honors Haitian heritage and supports families with Purpose Bags filled with all the ingredients needed to prepare Soup Joumou, Haiti’s historic soup of freedom, unity, and tradition. We aim to support 100 families, and volunteers are essential to helping us provide a dignified, welcoming, and culturally enriching experience.

As a volunteer, you will play an important role in creating a warm, supportive environment for families in our community.

VOLUNTEER ROLES:

• Purpose Bag Assembly & Distribution Help assemble culturally themed Purpose Bags and distribute them to families.
• Soup Tasting Station Support Assist with serving small tasting cups of Soup Joumou to attendees.
• Cultural Display & Welcome Table Greet families, help with check-in, share event information, and guide them through the cultural experience.
• Line Management & Flow Support Ensure families move through the stations smoothly and safely.
• Setup & Breakdown Support Help set up tables, signage, décor, and clean up after the event.
