The Treasurer / Bookkeeper plays a key role in supporting the financial health and transparency of our nonprofit youth sports program. This position oversees day-to-day financial tracking, reporting, and compliance to ensure funds are managed responsibly in support of safe, accessible, and positive sports experiences for youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, including income, expenses, and account balances
- Track registrations, sponsorships, donations, and fundraising revenue
- Pay invoices and reimbursements in a timely manner
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for the Board
- Assist with annual budgeting and financial planning
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial policies and reporting requirements
- Support preparation for audits or tax filings (e.g., 990 forms) if applicable
- Work collaboratively with board members, program staff, and volunteers
Qualifications
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or nonprofit treasury roles
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfort with basic accounting software or spreadsheets (QuickBooks, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity
- Reliable, consistent, and able to meet deadlines
- Interest in supporting youth sports and community programs
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience with nonprofit finances
- Familiarity with youth sports organizations or volunteer-run programs
- CPA, accounting coursework, or relevant certification
