    Description

Mentor Because Richmond Youth Are Looking For You!

Part of being a mentor is meeting youth where they are at. Youth in Richmond will benefit from caring, trusted adults coming alongside them to see them be successful. YOU could be that caring adult - consider signing up today!

This is an in-person mentoring program. This mentoring opportunity will begin with an 8 week cohort of mentors and mentees meeting together in Richmond. During this time, mentors and mentees will get to know each other. At the end of the 8 weeks, you will be matched with one mentee for one calendar year. You'll spend at least one hour a week with your mentee in the community exploring, talking, and learning about and advocating for their needs.

1 on 1 mentoring gives students more opportunities for success regardless of their background. It’s especially important for youth who may not have consistent adults in their lives to connect with.

All mentors are required to complete a background check and training. And our mentoring coordinator will be available for support throughout the program. We ask that you commit to at least 1 hour per week for a full calendar year. Consistency is important to build trust between you and your mentee.

We have a strong need for BIPOC mentors to support and connect with our diverse mentees. Although we welcome everyone with an interest in mentoring to sign up!
