    Business Operations Manager

    A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization based in New York City. Our organization provides children diagnosed with cancer the opportunity to explore their artistic passions. Artistic expression has been proven to play an instrumental role in the healing process. We support children affected by cancer in their exploration of a range of self-expression through art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing, and other creative mediums.

    Job Summary:

    We are looking for a Business Operations Manager to monitor our organization’s functions and build processes that meet our needs. The primary duties include overseeing administrative employees, implementing communications procedures between departments, and developing strategic initiatives to improve efficiency throughout the business. To be a successful Business Operations Manager, you should have experience in the same or similar role, managing all business operations and setting goals across the entire organization. You should also demonstrate great leadership skills and be able to communicate the vision of the company across all levels.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure all systems operate smoothly and align with our quality standards
    • Maximize the efficiency of all business procedures
    • Establish production KPIs and conduct quality assessments
    • Monitor daily operations and address potential issues when they arise
    • Build processes that meet our business objectives and ensure compliance
    • Monitor financial data and recommend solutions that will improve profitability
    • Coordinate with the HR department to ensure our hiring plans meet our business needs
    • Analyze the day-to-day operations of our company
    • Suggest improvements for efficiency gaps or unnecessary costs
    • Meet with upper management to develop initiatives that align with their strategies.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration
    • 2 + years of industry experience, preferably in a management role
    • Previous experience as a Business Operations Manager or in a similar role
    • Experience with databases and project management software
    • The ability to interpret financial data and allocate budgets
    • Exceptional communication skills
    • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
    • Analytical problem-solving abilities
    • Internships are unpaid and for credit only. If you are not receiving college credit for this internship you will not be eligible.

    Additional Information

    This position requires a three month commitment and at least 5 - 10 hours per week.*

    • Mandatory commitment is based on position level.

    Due to COVID-19, we are 100% remote.

    Proper at home working capabilities include laptop, phone, and connection to reliable internet connectivity. Must be available to have a phone / video conversation at least twice per week.
