    Description

    Give a Loved-One a Break from Caregiving

VITAS Healthcare is looking for kind and caring people to help hospice patients and their families – just by being there. Many of our patients live at home with family members, who rarely get the opportunity to leave the house, because they are devoted to caring for their loved one.

Relief Care (sitting with the patient while the caregiver takes a much-needed break) is one of our biggest volunteer needs. For caregivers to have the opportunity to run an errand, go to a doctor’s appointment, or just meet up with a friend, can work wonders to renew their energy and better equip them for the responsibility of caregiving.

VITAS provides free training and orientation for volunteers to learn the skills required to be an excellent Hospice Volunteer. Times and dates are ongoing and flexible. Your commitment is completely up to you, whether you decide to volunteer one day a week or month.
