Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the official nonprofit auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, serving communities through emergency services, aerospace education, and youth leadership development. With over 58,000 members nationwide, CAP conducts the majority of inland search and rescue missions in the continental United States and supports disaster relief and homeland security operations at the request of federal, state, and local agencies.
The Clearwater Composite Squadron (SER-FL-447) is one of fourteen units in the Tampa Bay area and maintains an operationally focused posture while mentoring cadets and supporting real-world emergency response missions.
Position Overview
The Finance Officer is responsible for safeguarding squadron funds, ensuring fiscal compliance, and supporting commanders with accurate financial oversight. This role is essential to operational integrity, donor trust, and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Finance Officer for Clearwater Composite Squadron
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with CAP and nonprofit standards
- Process reimbursements, deposits, and authorized expenditures
- Prepare periodic financial reports for command staff
- Support budget planning and audit readiness
- Coordinate with Wing-level finance staff as required
Qualifications
Required:
- Age 21 or older
- Ability to pass a background check
- Willingness to become a CAP member and comply with all regulations
- Strong attention to detail and integrity
Preferred (not required):
- Accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or nonprofit experience
- Familiarity with compliance-driven environments
Time Commitment
- Monthly financial processing and reporting
- Attendance at weekly or monthly squadron meetings as needed
- Periodic coordination with command staff
