The LEAGUE of Amazing Programmers is looking for Robotics Volunteers to help inspire and mentor students through hands-on robotics and programming experiences across San Diego County.
As a Robotics Volunteer, you’ll work with students ranging from beginners to advanced competitors, teaching everything from low-level robotics with Micro:bits and block-based coding to advanced FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics. Whether you’re leading a class, assisting an instructor, or helping students debug their robot at just the right moment, your impact will be immediate and meaningful.
What You’ll Do
- Teach and support students using Micro:bits, block coding platforms, and introductory robotics concepts
- Help guide students into more advanced robotics, including FTC robot design, programming, and strategy
- Assist with or lead in-person classes at various LEAGUE locations throughout San Diego
- Support students during builds, testing, and troubleshooting sessions
- Help teach and refine our existing robotics curriculum
- Contribute to the development of new lessons, challenges, and projects
- Collaborate with other volunteers and instructors to create a positive, inclusive learning environment
Who We’re Looking For
- Volunteers with experience or interest in robotics, programming, engineering, or STEM education
- Familiarity with Micro:bits, block coding, Java, or FTC robotics is a plus (but not required—we’ll help you learn!)
- Comfortable working with students (typically ages 8–18)
- Patient, encouraging, and excited to help students grow
- Available to volunteer in different areas of San Diego, depending on class needs
Why Volunteer with The LEAGUE?
- Make a real difference by helping students build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a love for STEM
- Gain teaching, mentoring, and leadership experience
- Be part of a supportive community passionate about technology and education
- Flexible scheduling with opportunities to grow into leadership roles
If you love robotics, enjoy helping others learn, and want to be part of something meaningful, we’d love to have you join our team!
