    Donor Relations Specialist

    Hybrid Volunteer Opportunity

    Dogs Matter is a unique and innovative 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide the needed services and support to gain long-term sobriety and stability and provide a healthy and loving environment for their pet. Dogs Matter is the only non-profit agency in Texas offering free temporary foster care placement and aftercare support services specifically for pets of people with addictions receiving substance abuse treatment.

    Dogs Matter has become a department of Dallas Pets Alive (DPA). With over 350 Volunteers on more than 10 teams, we have numerous opportunities for you to join our mission. We’re looking for a Volunteer Donor Relations Specialist to help strengthen relationships with the amazing supporters who make our work possible. You’ll help ensure donors feel informed, appreciated, and inspired to stay involved.     Team: Dogs Matter

    Location: Hybrid, local to the Dallas-Fort Worth area

    • Time Commitment: 1 - 2 hours a week (with 4 times/year of up to 5 hours per week)

    Compensation: This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation.

    Reports to: Director of Operations

    Works with: This role requires collaboration with the Dogs Matter Team, Donor Appreciation Coordinator, and DPA Development team. You will develop relationships and regularly interact with our donors.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a friendly point of contact for donor inquiries and messages
    • Create and send donor updates, emails, and occasional impact reports
    • Track donor interactions and feedback to help improve engagement
    • Help brainstorm and implement small stewardship touches
    • Collaborate with the Donor Appreciation Coordinator to ensure donors feel valued
    • Support fundraising events and donor engagement campaigns

    Qualifications/Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Friendly, thoughtful, and professional interpersonal style
    • Organized and detail-oriented with good follow-through
    • Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, and basic donor databases
    • Passion for our mission and for building meaningful relationships
    • Previous experience in donor relations, fundraising, or customer service is a plus but not required
    • Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
