    Description

Optage Meals is a commissary kitchen that is dedicated in providing nutritious meals to seniors and disabled adults in the greater Twin Cities Metro area. Our kitchen produces made-from-scratch food products and serves Presbyterian Homes locations as well as other organizations. Volunteers play a key role in enabling our kitchen to produce up to 3,000 meals per day for our customers.

Fruit packers help package pieces of fruit that will be delivered alongside frozen meals. This is a great opportunity for groups or individuals interested in simple, repetitive tasks that still make a huge difference for those we serve! While many of our fruit packers typically stand for their 1-2 hour shift, we can easily place the boxes of fruit on lower shelves so they are accessible to wheelchair users.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Enjoy working with a diverse population and helping people
    • Able to count pieces of fruit, place them in bags, and tie the bags. (The volunteer coordinator would be happy to assist with holding bags open or tying them if you or anyone in your group needs additional assistance.)

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • This position is located within the Optage Meals commissary kitchen. We require all people working in the kitchen to follow the Minnesota Department of Health regulations, such as wearing closed-toed shoes and a hairnet.

    BENEFITS:

    • Make a meaningful impact by supporting meal preparation
    • Build connections with our amazing kitchen staff
    • Gain practical kitchen experience
