    Description

Are you kind and friendly and looking to help others in your community? Are you patient and empathic, and willing to share those gifts with others during a difficult time? If so, we may have an opportunity that's a perfect fit for you!

Heartland Hospice is seeking dedicated Friendly Visitor Volunteers to help patients and families through their end-of-life journey.

Our volunteers provide comfort, companionship, and friendship to patients in a nursing facility or at home. Volunteers may engage with patients in a variety of ways depending on the patient’s needs. These activities can range from reading aloud, doing puzzles, or attending facility activities with the patient to simply listening to music, talking, or holding a hand. Volunteers also may provide a respite for caregivers who are caring for a loved one. Volunteers sit with a patient while the caregiver can take time for themselves.

As a Friendly Visitor Volunteer, your presence and support can make an impact for our patients and their families. If this seems like something that would be a good fit for you, we’d love to hear from you. Must be 18 years old and agree to a background screening.
